This month, May, 140 years ago, Levi Strauss patented the “jean.” Can you imagine life without a pair of jeans? Or a dozen pair for every occasion? We can’t.
While skinny jeans are all the rage, there is nothing like that pair of “gently” worn jeans that are more akin to a pair of jammie bottoms than street wear. Jeans take us from “Casual Friday”, to the club. We can dress them up or down and they come in a plethora of designs. Brights, whites, dark wash, acid wahs, cropped, even mom jeans are fodder for buzz.
And of course there is the occasional male of the species who wears jeans quite well. No, not the baggy, saggy jeans that filter out all signs of masculinity, but the jeans that fit just right…
Levi’s 501′s are iconic, but for curvy girls, they are still not a go-to in the jeans department. Rather, with the advent of stretchy fabrics—spandex—form-fitting jeans are much easier to wear.
